Woman’s body found in remote wooded area in southwest Birmingham

An investigation is underway after a woman’s body was found in southwest Birmingham Friday morning.

A West Precinct officer was flagged down by a city worker at 8:30 a.m. in the 2400 block of West Haven Drive and told there was a person down, said Officer Truman Fitzgerald.

Police responded to the remote area where they found the adult female unresponsive. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service pronounced her dead on the scene.

Fitzgerald said there were no obvious signs of physical trauma but said there were suspicious circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

The body was transported to the Jefferson County Coroner/Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy will be performed.
